Network Interface Model

The default Network Interface Card (NIC) is the Realtek 8139 (rtl8139).

That NIC works in a cross OS manner. However, the NIC lacks performance, on e.g., 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks.

Chose the para-virtualized network driver (libvirt networking) for best performance – this is included in all modern Linux distros.
